2020 Running goal challenge
Follow along these monthly 2020 goals and see how many you can complete.
There is a challenge for each month on the day with the month number and date number coincide. (E.g. 1/1, 2/2, 3/3.) Below are details for each month.
January: What better way to start the new year? Run 26.2 miles and celebrate a strong beginning!
February: Find a steep hill and do repeats until your vertical gain reaches 1 km. (That’s 3,281 ft. for those using the imperial system.)
March: Last month you found a steep hill. Now find a flat terrain and aim for a 400m PR.
April: Quadruplicate last month’s effort and complete a 1 mile PR. (400m x 4 is equal to 1 mile.)
May: After two months of short distances, it is time for a longer challenge once again. Complete a 10 mile PR.
June: Weather and temperature may be the hardest aspect of this challenge. Complete a marathon PR in the summer.
July: Consider this a warmup for the September challenge. Complete a 10K PR.
August: Complete an ultramarathon. (50K or more distance.)
September: Complete a half-marathon PR. This is the last standard distance left to PR this year.
October: Roll a die and run the corresponding distance.
1 = 1 miles; 2 = 5K; 3 = 10K; 4 = 13.1 miles; 5 = 26.2 miles; 6 = 50K
(For a modified version of this challenge, roll one die (or two dice) and run one mile per number you roll.)
November: Plan ahead and run in multiple states, districts, or cities. Find a corner with limits and aim for at least three different areas.
December: You made it to the last month of the year! Celebrate by choosing your own distance to run. Just be sure to run it at 12:00 midnight.
